Aruj Shukla is a PhD candidate in Economics at the University of Southern California. His research focuses on firms, labor markets, and workforce development in low-income countries, with particular interest in how mobile internet changes the way workers acquire skills, and how volatility shapes labor-market institutions and organization of production within firms. His current projects study worker-firm relationships in Uganda, refugee livelihoods in Kenya, and the effects of digital access on gender gaps in India. Aruj holds an MPP in International Development Policy from the McCourt School of Public Policy.
