gui2de hosts IEFG’s Future Leaders in Education Philanthropy conference
gui2de hosted nearly a dozen fellows from the International Education Funder Group’s (IEFG) Future Leaders in Education Philanthropy inaugural cohort for a two-day workshop on September 10th and 11th, 2025.
The International Education Funders Group (IEFG) is the largest global network of philanthropic actors funding education. The FLEP program, led by IEFG Executive Director Laura Savage and Barbara Hanisch-Cerda, Lead of Knowledge Creation, provides 9 months of instructional, leadership, and teambuilding content, culminating in two in-person retreats. Following a gathering earlier this year in Nairobi, Kenya, the Future Leaders visited Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public policy for the final event of the program.
Hosted and organized by gui2de, the two-day workshop included presentations from gui2de-affiliated faculty and research staff on the evidence of what works in education, how to make effective investments, and the political economy of education reforms and funding. Several other external researchers and professionals also participated, including a keynote address from Jaime Saavedra, Director of Human Development for Latin America and the Caribbean of the World Bank and former Minister of Education in Peru.
