Summer Internship and Fellowships

gui2de’s summer programs offer undergraduate and graduate students opportunities to support international development projects both in the field and remotely.

Internship Application Now Open

Summer 2026 internship applications are open through March 13th.

Summer Internship Program

gui2de’s Summer Internship is an experiential learning opportunity, offering hands-on experience in the implementation and management of international development projects in areas such as education, health, financial inclusion, and social protection.

Internship positions are open to rising undergraduate juniors and seniors in the College, as well as rising second year Masters students at the McCourt School of Public Policy and the Walsh School of Foreign Service.

During the program, students spend approximately eight weeks in the field, supporting faculty’s empirical field research in locations such as Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Nigeria, India, and the Philippines.  Students will work directly with gui2de staff and partners on a range of operational and analytical tasks, including logistical support and implementation, field team training and management, development of project materials, survey instrument coding and testing, data cleaning and analysis, report writing, and partner engagement.

While students will be supported by gui2de’s teams both on location and at Georgetown University, the internship requires significant self-direction and initiative, independence, and problem solving. There are no prerequisites for applying to the program, but a strong interest in international development, particularly experimental research (such as RCTs), is encouraged.  While previous experience with statistical software packages and econometric analysis may be a benefit, it is not a requirement and the summer is meant to introduce students to these skills and allow you to apply and practice them in the real world.

Although the internship is not a paid position, a non-service stipend is provided to defray the costs of living and round trip economy airfare are provided.  However, students are encouraged to secure external funding if possible.

Summer Fellowship Program

The gui2de Summer Research Fellowship is open to undergraduates only, and is an on-campus or remote data-analysis position. The fellowship provides students with the opportunity to work with gui2de- affiliated faculty on analytical tasks such as data cleaning, survey descriptive analysis, survey design, writing and dissemination, and more.
