Summer Internship 2018

The Georgetown University Initiative on Innovation, Development, and Evaluation (gui2de) is looking to send up to 10 Georgetown student interns to East Africa and/or India this summer.
The program is open to rising undergraduate seniors from across campus, and to students entering their final year in master’s programs at the McCourt School of Public Policy, and in SFS’s master’s in Global Human Development. Applicants must have a deep interest in development, high levels of self-motivation, and the ability to respond independently to challenges.
Summer interns will work on research projects in fields such as micro-finance, mobile money innovations, road safety, and education reform. Current gui2de projects are located in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, and India. Interns can expect to be involved in survey design, enumerator training, data collection and analysis, and logistics. Students are required to contribute to a blog about their experiences. Internships last for approximately two months and typically start at the beginning of June. Round trip economy class airfare and a stipend equivalent to $3,000 to defray cost of living expenses are provided. Housing will be organized by gui2de staff.
Interested students should complete the google form application available here. Please note that you will be asked to upload the following:
- a 200 to 250-word letter of application,
- a resume, and
- an unofficial transcript.
The deadline to apply is Friday, February 23rd. Brief interviews will then be conducted the following week with gui2de staff and PIs for selected applicants. Decisions will be shared by Friday, March 16th.
